Dull hair to dazzling. Thanks Natural World!

FullSizeRender (9).jpg

Dull, lifeless, lack lustre, split ends… my hair is basically anything but what I want it to be! I used to have gorgeous, shiny hair when I was much younger. Yet, as soon as I was a teenager, I discovered straighteners and ever since, my hair deteriorated.

My hair has a natural kink in it, so I straighten my hair daily and when I exercise or just need to power through a load of errands, I’ll tie my hair in a messy bun. Neither of which are particular good for your hair and so I was in serious need of some hair help!

I have tried a multitude of shampoos and am always on the look out for new, interesting hair products and so was over the moon to receive the Argan oil of Morocco Natural World range. These arrived a few weeks ago, beautifully wrapped and with simple but distinctive branding. This post is long over due but I wanted to give an honest opinion of the products! The past week I have been using the whole range (the hair oil I often forget! It’s not something I usually use!) and have been pleasantly surprised and satisfied with the product!

Honestly, considering the reasonable price of approx. £3.49, the products more than exceeded my expectations! I’m ashamed to say I often buy a brand that costs double the price! Would I buy & recommend this product? Yes!

My favourite products would have to be the shampoo/conditioner and the mask – my hair was beautifully shiny from just one wash, I was so amazed! The smell is not overly powerful, infused with Argan oil & essential oils including Rosemary,  Lemongrass, Orange & Ylang, which gently cleanse hair, adding moisture and a whole load of shine!

Packed with vitamin E, anti-oxidants and free from parabens, phosphates, dyes, gluten and 95% natural ingredients, these products really do what they say on the bottles!

Head to their website to explore their extensive range and for help choosing based on your hair dilemma! Have you tried them & what do you think? They are available in Tesco & on beauty and the bunch!

Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Love, as always, Career Girl

De-Stress:feat Katie Loxton

FullSizeRender (8).jpg

So in the space of a month a lot of great life changing things have happened, a lot of swings and roundabouts, but I am finally more myself and much more zen now.

My sleep pattern has been awful recently and I haven’t been sleeping well. I need to get back into the groove and continue to attend Yoga and Pilates, learn to relax and take time out more. I would love to complete my goal of mastering the crow position!

However, I have found the benefits of having a routine and being organised, especially when wanting to feel less frazzled in the mornings!

The night before having a particularly busy or stressful day, it’s so important to have a good night’s sleep. Having a bath, lighting a candle, and a personal favourite of mine is putting lavender oil on my pillow; which helps me sleep quickly and deeply! I wake up feeling so refreshed.

Also, if I have late night projects to do then lighting a candle instead of using my big light helps reduce the strain on my eyes. And who doesn’t love a nice smelling candle, right?

This past week I can’t get enough of the gorgeous smell of this Katie Loxton ‘happiness’ candle, with subtle hints of sweet orange and mango. The candle comes in lovely white and gold packaging – simple and elegant. The feel good fragrance is blended with the highest quality soy wax and contains essential oils, each scent chosen specifically to enhance ones mood and well-being.

This is a completely new brand to me, I found the company hewson & nash via Twitter! Their website houses independent retailers who sell a range of products, from candles to clothes. It is definitely worth checking out; whether you want to pamper yourself or treat a colleague/friend!

The founders of the company have an incredible back story which you can read up on via their website. The aim is that you can support independent, local retailers, AND you can contribute to charity too, which is a fantastic combination!

I am so glad I found this website and I will no doubt be buying more Katie Loxton items!

Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

#BloggersFestival

Held at the stunning Conrad St James 5* hotel, #BloggerFestival was definitely worth the hype. Yet another wonderful blogging event organised by the super lovely Scarlett London – who is, if anything, even prettier in real life than on Instagram!

Before the event, a group of us bloggers all met beforehand in Pret, a great way to chat to new bloggers and catch up. As soon as we entered the venue we were greeted by hosts offering nibbles and drinks, and to the right was Selfie Central! A huge wall was adorned with faux flowers, which made a cool, summary, pretty background, perfect for all those Snapchat stories & Instagram selfies!

The venue was nicely sized, allowing you to move easily around the event and mingle with individuals without feeling over crowded. A fair few brands I had already heard of and use were there, yet the majority of brands were new to me; a complete mix of food, beauty, fashion, lifestyle & fitness products were showcased.

What goodies did I receive & what’s my verdict?! All will be revealed below….

img_3967

My 7th Heaven *

I love these face masks & frequently use the cucumber peel-off one, it’s my go-to mask as it’s simple to use and does my skin wonders. So I was excited to try the Multi-Masking pack of various different face masks, each targeting  dealing with specific problem areas. If you particularly have oily skin it’s worth trying the Dead Sea peel-off mask! These products are Vegetarian, Cruelty free and won’t break the bank! Available in Superdrug, Boots and online.

Luscombe Drinks *img_3965

These Devon based drinks are the epitome of summer! They are incredible. The packaging is gorgeous and girly and the actual drink is just delicious. This non-alcoholic rose bubbly is sweet but light and so refreshing with subtle hints of Rose water and Grape juice, and I can imagine it going perfectly with crushed ice & Vodka too.

Opies *img_3969

Cocktail cherries! I bloody love these things. I am a massive lover of cocktails and have used this brand and product before so I know they are good! They’re also a perfect addition to any cake, and I have done just that, made a very calorific chocolate fridge cake featuring these exact cherries! They are really yummy!

FFS – Friction Free Shaving *

OMG – I loveeeeee these razors. I usually don’t spend a massive amount on razors but I would happily invest in these gorgeous ones. FFS is a razor subscription service, choose out of the 3 options and then have them delivered monthly!! What I love is that the, to quote the website, “Vitamin E lubricating strip moisturises the skin & full 90-degree pivot head contours the body form”. With the end result being super soft and cut free legs! Also, the packaging is cute and the razor is stylish with a good weight to it. Win.img_3970 Exuviance * Since I trailed their other products (See #BloggersBall post!) I was excited to try the Cleanser, and found it to be incredibly refreshing. It’s a clear foaming soap type cleanser which is very subtly fragranced and easy to use. It ensures my skin feels super cleansed and hydrated.

Beverley Hills Formula *

Heard of this brand and was very much looking forward to seeing whether it was worth the hype. Can a toothpaste really ensure whiter teeth?! I have used it this week (still early days, I’ll update you after this month!) and it does make my teeth feel cleaner, whiter and more shiny! Considering it’s charcoal, it tastes nicer than it looks!

Jewellery Box *

Want cute rings that even fit tiny hands? Love rose gold & dainty, cute, timeless pieces?! Head to the Jewellery Box website which houses an array of gorgeous earrings, rings and necklaces. So whether you want to treat yourself or your BFF, they are reasonably priced and packaged beautifully too! A massive thank you to Jewellery Box for the cool photo-shoot at the event!

Have you tried these products or would you?! Did you go to #BloggersFestival & what did you think of it? Let me know in the comments,

Love

My Office Attire Feat. Tessuti

There is nothing I love more than dressing to impress, whether it’s a fancy party or 9-5 job. Even if others wear more relaxed attire, I think there are so many benefits to dressing well. Dress to impress has always been my motto and guide for picking work outfits. I for one know that the way I dress has a huge impact on my outlook and my motivation towards work. In the past when I have worked in roles where the dress code is super relaxed, e.g. hoodies and trainers, my motivational levels drop. I have a reduced desire to work hard, my confidence takes a hit and I find it harder to care and concentrate!

According to a Forbes article, dressing for success can increase your income. From my own personal experience, I have received better treatment when I am dressed well. I have had more success in interviews and have achieved more of my goals in and outside of the work environment, as the better I dress, the more determined and productive I am!

The latest addition to my workwear wardrobe is this cool 100% cotton, flowy, billowy top from Scotch & Soda. I was given the opportunity to pick out an item from the Tessuti website – a fantastic online dreamy place filled with a variety of luxury brands, from Calvin Klein and Barbour to Moschino and Ralph Lauren (a personal favourite!). This is a brand new website to me, I discovered them at the #bloggersball organised by Scarlett London.

I am an absolute lover of certain luxury brands, as although some items might be on the more expensive side, I am a firm believer that you get what you pay! I am much more inclined to spend more on an item if I think it is better quality, especially as it will wear better and last much longer than ‘fast fashion’ brands such as, say, Primark.

I arrived back from France to a Tessuti delivery, which I will no doubt be frequenting at the office – perhaps when the suns out as it currently feels like winter!

What I’m Wearing:

Top – Scotch and Soda (Tessuti) *

Trousers- Hengelo

Shoes – Clarks

Ring – Jewellery Box  *

What do you wear to the office? I hope you liked this post – let me know what you think in the comments!

Extraordinary Exuviance – Where Science Meets Spa!

IMG_3306

Review of Hydrating Eye Complex & Age Reverse Hydrafirm from EXUVIANCE

I was made aware of this brand whilst attending the #bloggersball and fortunately was lucky to receive two products to review. I initially spoke to the lovely ladies at Exuviance to discuss my requirements, as my skin is oily on my forehead, yet elsewhere is unbelievably dry.

Generally, I find it tricky to come across a skincare brand that offers products which suit my skin, so I was super keen to try these after reading rave reviews on Twitter.

FullSizeRender (5).jpgFor the past week I have been using the Exuviance Age Reverse Hydrafirm, which proposes to hydrate and plump the skin. Firstly, this stuff smells divine! This is my first experience of using a serum and this particular one has a great consistency, really light and absorbs into the skin quickly and easily. You only need a pea size amount at the most. It instantly made my skin feel hydrated, firmer, and smoother. I apply it after cleansing and toning my skin in the morning and need to remember to repeat the process in the evenings too, to ensure the best effects! It increases collagen production, boosting the appearance of skin and is rich in antioxidants too, making this superb product even better! I highly recommend and for the price tag of £59.50, it isn’t too bad, considering this product will last a long time!

FullSizeRender (6).jpgThe second product which I have been testing is the Exuviance Hydrating Eye Complex, which I pat gently around the eye area using my ring finger, very lightly after cleansing, toning and moisturising in the mornings and before bed. This ‘cream’ feels more like a serum, which sinks into my skin effortlessly! You really need less than a pea size amount, at most, and that’s for both eyes! It soothes and brightens the under eyes perfectly and ensures they feel hydrated.         It aims to reduce fine lines and wrinkles whilst also improving hydration, tone and texture. The combination of vital vitamins, antioxidants and soothing extracts of chamomile and algae combine to create a wonderful solution to tired eyes; especially if you wear contacts! This product is reasonably priced at £34, considering the small amount needed.

For full stock list, details of all ingredients and to read other testimonials head to their website, alternatively follow them on Twitter @ExuvianceUK

Have you tried the Exuviance products or are thinking of doing so? Let me know what you think of this post and don’t forget to comment, like or share which posts you’d like to see more of!

Why FACE MATTERS!

IMG_3097

Face Matters – Anti-aging Skincare Products

Recently, I have been neglecting myself and my skin. With my job, I am often in such a rush to get out of the door on time, I merely cleanse, tone, and if I have some spare time I use a bit of tinted moisturiser. Although it’s technically summer, it definitely feels like winter and with the cold and horrible wind, my skin is so not in the condition I would like  it to be. My skin tends to get incredibly dry, so making sure it is hydrated is such a challenge.

Attending the fabulous #bloggerball event held by the lovely Scarlett, I stumbled across the fantastic, but new to me brand, Face Matters. The founder of the company, Sally, is a charming women who is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about her products. She has combined her experience and expertise in the beauty sector to create the amazing collection of 5 products.

At first glance, these products have very simple but effective packaging, in glass bottles and come with a handy leaflet, detailing the specific science behind how each of the products are designed to work; and how to use the products to gain the best effects.

On the website there is a breakdown of the trails and the reviews of each of the products, which is helpful, and the results gained from this research are pretty good!

So, all of the products that I tried smell divine! This is so important to me, as the scents are not overpowering, instead, are beautifully subtle.

FullSizeRender (1)

I was kindly gifted the ALL DAY SPRITZ, which is a cleansing spray that can applied day or night, just whenever your skins needs an extra boost of hydration; preferably after cleansing and before moisturising. It is a great product and I think would be especially beneficial in both winter and summer when the weather tends to affect your skin more.

FullSizeRender (2)

Next, I have been applying the MORNING MOISTURE after cleansing. Initially I stupidly put a bit too much on my face! You really only need a pea size amount and use it sparingly as a little goes a long way. The cream is quite thick which I love, and it’s also jam packed with goodness, vitamins, anti-oxidants and collagen which is essential for maintaining youthful skin.

FullSizeRender (3)

Last but not least is the amazing and very luxurious BALM. There are a multitude of ways to use this product, as a cream, cleanser or mask. I opted for the latter and it makes my skin feel instantly more moisturised, supple and glowing. This is perfect for extreme weather conditions.

The above products are relatively pricey. However I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for, and the cost per wear of all these products will work out better in my opinion than getting cheaper products.

There are 2 other products, one of which, the EVENING ELIXIR is on my list of products to try as it’s loved by Hello! Magazine, but also, as the products I’ve tried so far are so good, I’m intrigued as to how the serum/facial oil will fair.

So from now on, I am hoping to set my alarm even earlier before work to ensure I stick to my new skincare routine!

I hope you have enjoyed this, let me know your skincare recommendations in the comments below!

#BloggersBall Shenanigans!

IMG_2969 (1)

#BloggersBall at DSTRK LDN

So where to start! Massive thanks to the lovely Scarlett London for managing to pull off such a fantastic blogging event!

I am still very new to the whole blogging game and this event was my second blogging event and to say I was nervous would be a definite understatement! The day started off with me manically running around London trying to get my bearings (I’m often in London but still find tubes so freaking confusing!) I was stressing out about what I was going to wear and not getting lost etc etc.

Luckily a lovely group of bloggers organised Pizza Express before the event which was so what I needed. Going to a big blogger event is surprisingly quite intimidating so it was great to meet a slightly smaller group to eat, drink and chat about blogging in a relaxed environment. We were all keen beans & arrived at DSTRK in Piccadilly Circus early and took the opportunity to take a load of outfit photos. Met the beautiful Scarlett and entered the building…

I was absolutely blown away with how busy, gorgeous, interesting and insightful the event was! Often nightclubs look odd once the lights were up but it was a fantastic event with the majority of brands in one section and the other section having a more chilled out vibe with places to sit – thank god because my heels were hurting! There were plenty of opportunities to mingle with other bloggers, brands and get involved with activities and chances to win prizes. For once I actually won a beautiful, colourful scarf!

The 2 and a half hours flew by and a few bloggers stayed on and we ended up having dinner and cocktails, reflecting on the perfect day!

It was a struggle to say the least trying to lug around all the goodies we all received round London and back home, but totally worth it! Everyone was so inviting and lovely, the blogging community is just amazing!

Vatika Naturals Coconut Hair Mask, Shampoo & Face Wash*

First up are the Vatika Naturals hair and skincare products. I have never heard of the products before but apparently are in stores such as Superdrug. Now I have seriously lack lustre hair and so have been recommended these products which supposedly are great for ‘rejuvenating limp, lifeless hair’. They are enriched with coconut, I was given the shampoo and hairmask to try. Yet to use the hairmask but the shampoo… so far so good! It certainly made my already thick hair incredibly volumised. What’s your hair like? Whatever your type, find out which would work best for you here. I used the ‘Dermoviva Honey’ moisture boost face wash with honey, almond and aloe vera along with my trusty Foreo Luna Play facial brush and it works wonders, making my skin feel supple, smooth and hydrated.

IMG_3041

Rose Gold Ring & Bracelet – Jewellery Box. Silver Bracelet – BohoBetty*

Next up the beautiful Jewellery Box. I have seen all these stunning pieces all over social media and was intrigued. At the stall I tried on the Rose Gold arrow ring and it fitted my tiny finger yay! I find it so tricky to find rings that fit! So I was over the moon to find inside the box the exact rose gold ring that I tried – I can’t stop wearing it! Unfortunately the rose gold bracelet doesn’t fit my wrist and falls off which is such a shame! The twinkly silver wrap around bracelet from Boho Betty fits though! This is perfect in summer and especially when it’s sunny as the beads and metal sparkle in the sunlight!

IMG_3042

Seed & Bean Chocolate*

Lastly, Seed & Bean! I tasted the Sweet Orange & Thyme, which sounds a strange mix yet as soon as it hit my mouth the taste sensation was insane! It tastes so freaking good! And if you are headed to Glastonbury I think they will have a stall there! Alternatively to go there website to see all stores which stock these incredible products! They are Organic, Vegan, Fairtrade chocolate bars which are produced in an ethical and sustainable manner, which I think are SO important!
